Michael Daines, MD

Dr. Daines is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Arizona.  He holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University, and a doctoral degree in Medicine from St. Louis University School of Medicine.  He completed his fellowship in allergy/immunology at Duke University Medical Center.  He is a Pediatric Allergist-Immunologist with a strong interest in improving health outcomes in children with inflammatory diseases.  He has focused his academic efforts on basic, translational, and clinical research focusing on asthma with a particular emphasis the impacts of dysregulated inflammation. He is the Co-Director of the Children’s Postinfectious Encephalopathy (CPAE) Center of excellence at the University of Arizona. The CPAE program was initiated at the University of Arizona Steele Research Center in 2016. Through the CPAE Program he has dedicated research efforts in understanding the postinfectious processes that lead to immune dysregulation and neuroinflammation that alter mood, movement, and behavior in children.
